Directions

Thaw the frozen peas and set them aside.

In a large saucepan, stir together the white sauce mix and milk.

Following the package directions, cook the mixture over medium heat until it thickens.

Stir in the cheese and pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

Add the cooked macaroni, diced ham, and thawed peas to the saucepan.

Cook the mixture, stirring frequently, until everything is heated through.

To make the white sauce from scratch, melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Stir in 1/4 cup of flour and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture bubbles but does not brown.
9.
Gradually stir in 2 cups of milk and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
