Directions
1.
Make the katsu sauce by whisking all the ingredients together in a small bowl until well combined. Set the sauce aside.
2.
Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
3.
Place the green beans on the prepared pan, drizzle them with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and toss to coat evenly.
4.
Roast the green beans in the oven for about 15 minutes, or until they begin to brown.
5.
Heat about 1 inch of oil in a heavy-bottomed pan until it reaches 350°F.
6.
Arrange the flour, beaten eggs, and panko in three separate shallow bowls.
7.
Sprinkle each ham steak with pepper, then coat it in flour.
8.
Dip the floured ham steak into the beaten eggs, then press it into the panko to adhere the crumbs.
9.
Gently slide one breaded ham steak into the hot oil and cook for 1 minute.
10.
Flip the steak and cook for 1 more minute, or until it is golden and crispy.
11.
Transfer the cooked steak to a wire rack and lightly season with salt and pepper.
12.
Repeat the breading and frying process with the remaining ham steak, using a slotted spoon to remove any loose crumbs between batches.
13.
Cut each ham steak in half and serve hot with the roasted green beans, katsu sauce, and steamed rice.
