Ingredients
French Toast Roll Up
Creamy Maple Dipping Sauce
Directions
Make the dipping sauce first so it will be ready to use while the sausage roll-ups are still hot. In a medium saucepan over medium heat melt the butter. Whisk in the syrup and cream. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Continue to whisk while it is simmering. It will begin to thicken after 10-12 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly. Put a lid on it, so it stays warm and continues to thicken.
On a cutting board, remove the crusts from the bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin. Place a sausage link on the edge and roll up tight, pressing to seal the end.
In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Dip each piece of sausage bread thoroughly in the eggy milk mixture and place in the skillet, seam side down. Cook 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
Remove from the heat and sprinkle with powdered sugar and orange zest. Dip roll-ups into maple buttercream sauce or drizzle over top.
